5k & Fun Run

Sunday October 16th

Lakeside is proud to be hosting the second annual 5k and fun run within the McBride Corporate Park in Oakland.

All proceeds will be donated to the Matthew Larson Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (IronMatt).

The race will begin and end at Lakeside Fitness Club and will route through the McBride Corporate Park.  The course is flat and designed for both serious runners as well as residents of nearby towns to get some exercise and show their community support.

The event is open to all and is officially sanctioned by the USA Track and Field Association. Members can earn 500 Grand Prix points and receive certified results.  Click here for the course map.

In keeping with Lakeside's focus on family health and wellness, there will also be a 1 mile family fun run at 9:30am.  All kids in the fun run receive a commemorative ribbon.

About the IronMatt Foundation

Our purpose… Seven-year old Matthew Larson lost his five-year battle with brain and spinal cancer in April 2007. This year, more than 3,000 children will be diagnosed with a brain tumor and more than 1,000 will die from this horrible disease.  The IronMatt Foundation hopes to ease the burden on the children and families who are battling this horrible disease, while also funding medical and scientific research to find a cure.  It is our hope that one day no child will have to endure what Matthew and thousands of other newly diagnosed children face every year.

The Matthew Larson Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (also known as IronMatt) is a public 501 (C)(3) organization and is classified for tax purposes as a tax-exempt public foundation.
